San Mateo Toyota, Lexus and Scion Service & Repair

First time here, won’t be the last. This is a quirky repair shop in the best of ways. They specialize in Japanese brands and have fair (lower) prices than other local shops. I was in need of a major job, a timing belt replacement, and was quoted $2200 from my usual go-to for service. A friend recommended C&T so I called and got a quote for $1000 less! Not only that, but my 2005 Lexus was one of their specialties - I was in. On appointment day, I had a little trouble finding the place, but after a couple of missed turns, came upon C&T. Their office has stacks of paperwork in every nook and cranny, and is run by two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet in the industry. They took my car and said it would be done by days end. I left and walked five minutes to the Hayward Park Caltrain shop, so convenient. When I got their “finished” call later, earlier than expected, I hopped back on Caltrain, arrived at C&T, and received a bill that was even a little LESS than they quoted. The timing belt replacement was done with the other necessary bits (water pump, pulleys, etc) and my car ran perfectly, still does. I no longer have to worry about the belt breaking, nor my budget breaking when I’m in need of auto repairs. C&T has me covered. They seem fair and trustworthy. Definitely worth a call.

I’ve been going to C&T Toyota since Chris first opened his shop over 30 years ago. I’m now the second generation in my family to bring our vehicles to him. Chris is truly the most honest mechanic in the industry. He will always tell you exactly what needs to be repaired—and just as importantly, what doesn’t. His integrity is unmatched. On the rare occasions when I couldn’t get an appointment soon enough and had to go to the dealership for something quick, like an oil change, I was always met with a long list of “recommended repairs” that were unnecessary. The service advisors and even the mechanics there work on commission, and it shows. After the last time that happened, I told myself I would never do that again. My business is now exclusively with Chris at C&T Toyota. Integrity, honesty, and truly the best mechanics in the industry—this is what you’ll find here. Very skilled and kind people. I brought my 1989 Toyota MR2 Mk1 SC here for a lot of engine work with other elements. I just drove home and the clutch felt like butter, the engine sounded amazing, it was a great drive. Thank you so much to these people and I would recommend. They even threw in some photos to show some of the work they'd done which they didn't have to but it was appreciated

Will always recommend C&T if you baby your Toyota/ Lexus. Chris is knowledgeable and direct, he speaks with authority and confidence. They are resourceful and timely when getting the approved replacement parts for repair and maintenance. Much like Toyota's technical methodology, their work is precise, neat efficient, and of great value. What matters most for me is: their work lasts.
